Endorsement for Global Talent Visa
As an Irish resident, before you obtain the Global Talent visa, a Home Office-approved endorsing body within your field of profession must assess your application. The endorsing bodies typically have sector-specific criteria and evidential requirements that must be fulfilled by the applicants.
Therefore at the endorsement application stage, your relevant endorsing body will assess your skill set, abilities and achievements according to the Code of Practice for Endorsing Bodies.
If your profile and the evidence you provide meet the overall requirements and your relevant endorsing body is satisfied, they will now make an endorsement decision on your case. They will tell the Home Office the reasons you should be endorsed as a potential leader showing exceptional promise or a leader showing exceptional talent.
Global Talent Visa Requirements
Before Irish residents are issued the Global Talent visa, they must meet some Global Talent visa requirements. You must complete the appropriate application form, pay your endorsement fee and ensure you seek endorsement from an endorsing body related to your line of work.
Ensure your visa application is valid, and pay all relevant fees such as immigration health surcharge and other fees using the appropriate form. You must provide your biometric information alongside other supporting documents which must include your endorsement letter.
You must meet the suitability requirements and not have any grounds for refusal under UK immigration rules. You must demonstrate that you meet the eligibility criteria, either by showing that you are a recognized leader in your field or that you have exceptional potential to become a leader in your field. Your endorsement from the relevant body will confirm that you meet the necessary standards.
How to Apply for a UK Global Talent Visa?
As an Irish resident, you can apply for a Global Talent visa by taking the following steps:
Know if You Qualify
Before you start applying for a Global Talent visa, you must know if you are eligible to do so. You must have been recognised as an exceptional leader or an emerging leader in your field and endorsed by a Home Office-approved endorsing body in the UK.
Select an Endorsing Body
Choose the endorsing body that is relevant to your line of work. The endorsing body will evaluate your skills, achievements and contributions in your field and ultimately endorse your application if you meet their criteria.
Gather Your Documents
You must assemble all the documents needed to support your application. Your line of work typically determines the type of documents you must provide. As an Irish resident, the Global Talent visa documents you’d need to provide may include:
- Your travel document or passport
- Letters of reference or recommendation from professionals in your field of work
- A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Evidence of English proficiency (if required by your endorsing body)
- Proof of your publications, awards, works and achievements
- An endorsement letter from your endorsing body
Note that the above-mentioned documents are not all-encompassing as your endorsing body may require you to provide additional documents to support your application.
Fill Out the Online Application
You must complete the online Global Talent visa application form by visiting the UK government’s website within 3 months of receiving your endorsement letter. All applicants must create an account if they don’t already have one, and pay the required visa application fee.
Attend Your Biometric Appointment
You may be required to visit your nearest visa application centre for a biometric appointment. At the appointment, you will need to submit a digital scan of your fingerprints and photographs (biometric information).
Endorsement Review
Once you’ve submitted your online application, your application will be reviewed by a relevant endorsing body. Your application will either be endorsed or they will suggest areas of improvement.
File Your Supporting Documents
Upon getting your Global Talent visa endorsement, you must submit your letter of endorsement alongside other supporting documents required for your application to the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
Pay the IHS Fee
You are required to pay the IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) so that you can access the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.
Attend Your Visa Interview
You may be required to attend a visa interview to be assessed by the UK authorities. At the interview, UK immigration officials will ask you several questions to know if you are qualified to be issued the Global Talent visa. They may also want to assess the authenticity of the documents you have provided for the visa application.
Await a Decision
Once you’ve submitted your application, you must wait for the Home Office to decide on your application within a few weeks depending on your situation.
Get Your BRP
Upon the approval of your application, a BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) will be assigned to you shortly after entering the UK.
Global Talent Visa Processing Time and Fees
It typically takes about 3 weeks for your Global Talent visa to be processed if you are applying from outside the UK. Or it could take up to 8 weeks to get a decision on the visa application if you are applying from inside the UK for applicants seeking to extend the visa or switch from another UK visa.
For the Global Talent visa, if you’re applying based on an endorsement or an eligible award, you need to pay a total of £205.
