Options for Tracking Your Irish Visa Application
There are a few options available to you to help track the status of your Irish visa application after submitting it.
These will depend on where you have submitted your Irish visa application.
If you’ve submitted your visa application to the Immigration Service Delivery’s (ISD’s) main visa office in Dublin, you can check if your application is undergoing processing and whether it’s been approved or refused on their website.
If you’ve submitted your visa application to an ISD office located outside Ireland, you will be able to use the Weekly Decision Report for your specific visa office to check if your application has been approved or refused.
If you’ve submitted your visa application to an Irish embassy or consulate, you will need to contact them directly to check on the status of your visa application.
Meanwhile, if you’ve submitted your visa application to a service such as VSF Global, you may be able to receive notifications on the status of your application.

Tracking Applications Made to the Immigration Service Delivery in Dublin
Overview of Visa Application Tables
There are a couple of stages to checking on your visa application if you’ve applied to the Immigration Service Delivery’s main visa office in Dublin.
Every visa application or appeal the ISD receives is added to a queue in the order that the visa office in Dublin receives them.
The visa office then separates visa applications and visa appeals into separate queues. These queues are then arranged into smaller queues for each type of visa available.
Every Tuesday, the Dublin visa office updates three different tables with details of the most recent visa applications. These tables are:
- Visa processing dates
- Preclearance processing dates
- Recent decisions
It’s important to note that decision dates may not change for some categories of applicants.
The Visa Processing Dates Table
The visa processing dates table shows individual dates for each type of visa application or appeal. Only applications that were received before the dates shown are currently being processed by the visa office.
For example, if your Irish study visa application was received by the visa office on 01/02/22, it won’t be processed until the corresponding date for that visa is updated to 02/02/22 or later.
Note that it may take several days or even weeks before the Dublin visa office receives your visa application.
The Preclearance Processing Dates Table
The preclearance processing dates table operates in a same manner to the visa processing dates table, except it shows the processing dates for Irish preclearance applications.
There are separate queues for preclearance applications and appeals, as well as individual processing dates for the five different types of preclearance you can apply for in Ireland.
The Recent Decisions Table
The recent decisions table shows the final status of visa applications and appeals once they’ve been processed.
It does this by listing the application number and showing whether it has been approved or refused.
As well as cycling through the pages of the most recent visa application or appeal decisions, you can also search for your application number directly using the search function.
Tracking Applications Made to the Immigration Service Delivery Internationally
If you submitted your visa application to an Immigration Service Delivery visa office outside of Ireland, you will be able to check on the decision made on your application using the Weekly Decision Reports.
These are reports released weekly that detail all of the visa application decisions that have been made in the past week in that visa office.
The information is presented in table form in a PDF, with the application number listed alongside their final decision (approved or refused). Some visa offices may also list the type of visa and the refusal reasons next to the final decision.
You will need to contact your local visa office if you need to check on the status of your application while it is being processed.
Tracking Applications Made Through VFS Global
If you submitted your visa application through VFS Global, you will be able to receive an email notification when the decision of your application has been returned to the ISD.
You may also be able to receive SMS updates directly to your phone if you can’t access emails easily, or if you would like more detailed tracking information. However, this service is dependent on whether your local Irish visa application centre offers it.
You may also check the status of your visa application online through VFS Global. To use this service, you will need to quote the reference number included on the invoice or receipt issued by the Ireland visa application centre along with your last name.
Where Are the ISD’s International Visa Offices Located?
Below is a list of the locations of ISD’s international visa offices. These visa offices also all publish Weekly Decision Reports for visa applications:
- Beijing (China)
- New Delhi (India)
- Abuja (Nigeria)
- Moscow (Russia)
- Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates)
- London (United Kingdom)
- Ankara (Turkey)
If your country isn’t listed here, you will need to contact or visit your nearest Irish consulate or embassy for details of your Irish visa application.
