How can I find a Tier 2 or Tier 5 Sponsorship Employer?
Migrants from outside the EEA and EU who wish to work in the UK, need to secure a position with an employer. This is the only way to get a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (Cos).
Unfortunately, not all UK-based employers hold a Tier 2 or a Tier 5 sponsor license. In fact, businesses must first prove that they meet strict requirements before the Home Office can grant them permission to sponsor foreign workers.
How do I find a Tier 2 Sponsor?
The UK Home Office has a publicly available Register of Sponsors Licensed Under the Points-based System. This can be used to find a comprehensive list of all employers with a Tier 2 or Tier 5 license.
The register provides several details, such as the organization name, its location and rating and, above all, the visa tiers and sub-tiers available.
What are the UK Work Visas tiers?
Based on your position and qualification, you can apply for one of the following visa types:
Long-term (Tier 2) visa types:
- Intra Company Transfers (ICT)
- Religious worker visas
- Sportsperson visa
Temporary (Tier 5) visa types:
- Charity Worker visas
- Creative and Sporting visas
- International Agreement visas
- Religious Worker visas
- Seasonal Worker Visas
What is the Shortage Occupation List (SOL)?
The UK Shortage Occupation List is a register of all the jobs in short supply in the United Kingdom. These positions can be filed by migrants under the Tier 2 route.
All the jobs in the SOL are recommended by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) and revised periodically.
This list identifies skilled roles which are in high demands. Besides, UK employers can benefit from hiring skilled migrants who can fill this job.
First of all, the Resident Labor Market Test (RLMT) is not required for jobs included in this list. The RLMT is designed to give settled and national workers priority in the job market. In other words, foreign nationals can only be recruited once the employer has demonstrated that there are no suitable workers already available in the UK to fill the vacancy.
Besides, jobs in the SOL usually benefit from priority allocation of CoS and are exempted from the minimum income threshold for Indefinite Leave to Remain applications.
