New Zealand Work Visa from Philippines: An Overview

A New Zealand work visa grants you the authorisation to enter, live, and work in the country.

New Zealand employers are typically required to recruit individuals with the legal permit to work in the country. As such, whether you already have a job offer or intend to get one when you arrive, you must first apply for a work visa from your home country.

New Zealand’s work visas are in two categories: temporary work visas that allow you to live in the country for a specific period and residence visas that allow you to live in the country indefinitely.

It’s important to note that each work visa has distinct requirements. The specific visa you should apply for will depend on the type of work you intend to take up and your skills and qualifications.

If you are a Filipino looking to work in New Zealand, our immigration lawyers can help you with your visa application. Contact us at 0333 305 9375 today.

    Overview

The New Zealand temporary work visas will allow you to live and work in the country for a limited period. Afterwards, you may be eligible to extend your visa or apply for a residence permit. Some common temporary work visas you can apply for from the Philippines include:

    Accredited Employer Work Visa

You can apply for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) if you have a full-time job offer from a New Zealand employer that is accredited to hire Filipino workers.

To be eligible for this visa, you should meet these requirements:

    • The job offer should be for at least 30 hours a week.
    • Your remuneration should be at least the New Zealand median wage unless your job is on an exemption list.

Furthermore, if your job is on the Green List of in-demand jobs, you can apply for a residence visa after 2 years of living in New Zealand.
