UK Visa Processing Times: Applications Outside the UK
Since Ghana is a visa-required country for the UK, you must obtain a valid visa before travelling to the country for visit, work, business or study purposes, or to join your family members settled there. Common Reasons for an Increase in UK Visa Processing Time
Your UK visa processing time may further increase due to several reasons, such as:
- Incomplete or inaccurate information provided on the online application form
- Insufficient supporting evidence submitted (or UKVI needs additional documents or information given your immigration circumstances)
- Verification is required for your supporting documentation
- You are required to attend a visa interview
- UKVI is experiencing an increased volume of visa applications at the time
Priority and Super Priority Services: Who Are Eligible?
You may be able to pay an additional fee to get a faster decision on your visa application. However, not all visas come with this option and there is a limit on the number of applicants who can apply for a faster decision.
The priority visa service comes at an additional fee of £500 and you will get a visa decision usually within five working days (or in case of family visas, within 30 working days). The ‘super priority service’ fee is £1000 to get a decision by the end of the next working day.
However, if UKVI requires more information and/or documents from you, a decision will take longer even if you have opted for priority/super priority service, although you will not get a refund.
