Global Talent Visa UK from Philippines

The Global Talent visa allows leaders and potential leaders in academia or research, arts and culture, and digital technology to work in the UK. The academia or research category includes fields such as science, engineering, medicine, the humanities, and the social sciences.

Applicants must either obtain an endorsement from an organisation approved by the Home Office or have won an eligible prestigious prize. A prize only qualifies if it appears on the Home Office’s eligible prize list and the applicant is the named winner.

There are no minimum salary or English language requirements for the Global Talent visa. However, applicants seeking endorsement must meet the relevant criteria and provide the evidence required under their chosen endorsement pathway.

Applicants from the Philippines can apply for their partner and eligible children to join them in the UK as dependants. People already in the UK may be able to switch to the Global Talent visa if they meet the switching requirements, although applicants in certain immigration categories must leave the UK and apply from overseas.

The Global Talent visa is open to applicants from the Philippines who are recognised as leaders or potential leaders in their field. Applicants must be aged 18 or over and qualify in academia or research, arts and culture, or digital technology.

Academia or research includes science, engineering, medicine, the humanities, and the social sciences. The Global Talent visa also covers arts and culture, including architecture, fashion, film and television, and digital technology fields such as fintech, gaming, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

Applicants can seek endorsement as either an exceptional talent, for established leaders, or exceptional promise, for people with the potential to become leaders.

Most applicants need endorsement from a Home Office-approved endorsing body in their field. Applicants who have won an eligible prestigious prize can apply for the visa without endorsement.

Applicants who do not hold an eligible prestigious prize must apply for endorsement. The relevant endorsing body assesses whether the applicant meets its criteria for exceptional talent or exceptional promise.

Each endorsement pathway has its own eligibility criteria and evidence requirements. Depending on the field and route, applicants may need to provide evidence of professional achievements, research experience, awards, publications, recommendation letters, or their contribution to the field.

Applicants may apply for the Global Talent visa either at the same time as their endorsement application or once their endorsement is confirmed. If an endorsement is approved, the Home Office sends the applicant an email containing a copy of the endorsement letter.

The applicant must submit their visa application within three months of the date on that letter.

A successful endorsement does not automatically mean that the visa will be granted. Applicants must still meet the visa-stage requirements, pay the relevant fees and provide the documents required by UK Visas and Immigration.

Applicants seeking endorsement in academia or research may qualify through one of four pathways. The appropriate pathway depends on their professional role, research funding and academic achievements.

These pathways do not apply to Global Talent visa applicants in arts and culture or digital technology, who must meet the requirements for their own endorsement categories.

You may be eligible for endorsement in academia or research if you:

• Are eligible for peer review by the relevant academy or endorsing body
• Hold, or held within the last five years, an eligible individual fellowship
• Have an eligible job offer as an academic or researcher at an approved UK institution
• Are you working on an eligible research grant or award from a UKRI-approved funder

Each pathway has its own eligibility criteria and documentary requirements. Applicants should identify the route that matches their circumstances before preparing an endorsement application.

Arts and Culture

Arts Council England covers combined arts, dance, literature, music, theatre, and visual arts.

The baseline is outstanding work, performed, presented, distributed, or exhibited internationally, with regular professional engagement over the last 5 years.

• A CV and three dated letters: two from established arts organisations you’ve worked with (one UK-based), and a third from another organisation or an individual with recognised standing in your field
• Exceptional talent: a substantial track record across at least two countries, backed by two qualifying pieces of evidence, significant media recognition, an international award, or internationally significant exhibitions, sales, or appearances
• Exceptional promise: an early-career applicant with a developing track record in one or more countries, still needing two forms of evidence

Architecture

RIBA handles architecture endorsements on behalf of the Arts Council England.

The bar is the same shape as arts and culture, outstandingly presented, published, or internationally exhibited work, with 5 years of regular engagement in the field.

• A CV and three letters: two from established architecture organisations (one UK-based), a third from another organisation or a recognised individual
• Exceptional talent: a track record spanning two countries
• Exceptional promise: a track record in one country
• Either route needs two qualifying pieces of evidence, an award, media recognition, or internationally significant publications or exhibitions

Design Industry

A new field was added to Appendix Global Talent in 2026, endorsed by the Design Business Association (DBA) on behalf of Arts Council England. It covers product, graphic, UX, service, industrial, and spatial design, among other design disciplines.

You must be professionally engaged in producing outstanding applied, published, distributed, or internationally exhibited work, with regular professional design work over the last 5 years.

• A CV and 3 dated letters of recommendation, 2 from well-established design organisations you have worked with (at least one UK-based) and a third from another organisation or individual with recognised experience in design
• Exceptional talent: a substantial track record in at least 2 countries, evidenced by significant media recognition, an international design award, or internationally significant professional appearances, publications, exhibitions, or sales
• Exceptional promise: an early-career applicant with a developing track record in one or more countries, evidenced by recent media recognition, an award nomination or shortlisting, or recognised appearances, publications, or exhibitions

Fashion Design Industry

The British Fashion Council assesses this field. You need a leading design role in a fashion business, plus 5 years of regular industry engagement.

• A CV and 3 dated letters of recommendation, 2 from well-established fashion organisations (at least one UK-based) and a third from another organisation or individual with recognised expertise
• Exceptional talent: outstanding work sold or exhibited internationally through catwalk or other shows, with a substantial track record in at least 2 countries
• Exceptional promise: a developing track record in at least 1 country, which can be evidenced through support from schemes such as British Fashion Council initiatives, Fashion East, or The Sarabande Foundation, or through orders from a luxury retailer

Film and Television

Pact assesses this field for Arts Council England, and only for exceptional talent; there’s no exceptional promise route here.

• A Main Award win at any point (Academy Award, an eligible BAFTA, Golden Globe, or Emmy)
• A nomination for, or significant contribution to, a Main Award in the last 10 years
• At least two Main Award nominations across the last 15 years
• Notable industry recognition across at least two productions, backed by distribution sales, media coverage, and the right mix of awards from Pact’s Notable Industry Recognition Awards List
• A CV and three letters are still required, two from established film and television organisations (one UK-based)

Digital Technology

Endorsed by Tech Nation. What counts as “exceptional” varies by applicant type: technical applicants need proven expertise in building or deploying technology stacks and infrastructure; business applicants need commercial, investment, or product expertise in leading digital businesses.

• A CV containing career and publication history
• Three dated recommendation letters from different established digital technology experts who have known the applicant’s work for at least 12 months
• Up to 10 documents showing that the applicant meets the evidential criteria
• Evidence of their connection to a digital technology business if they have been a founder or senior executive during the last 5 years
• Exceptional talent: applicants must provide at least two pieces of evidence across two qualifying criteria. These criteria cover innovation, recognition beyond the applicant’s occupation, significant technical, commercial or entrepreneurial contributions, and academic contributions through expert-endorsed or published research
• Exceptional promise: applicants must be at an early stage of their career and provide at least two pieces of evidence across two qualifying criteria. Their evidence can show innovation, recognition beyond their occupation, contributions as a founder or employee of a product-led digital technology company, or academic contributions through research endorsed by an expert

Science, Engineering, Humanities, Social Science and Medicine

The Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the British Academy, and UKRI split this territory among themselves by discipline.

Whichever body assesses you, you’ll need to already be an active researcher, academic, industry professional, or government employee.

• Fast track: applicants must hold, or have held in the last 5 years, an eligible peer-reviewed fellowship or award; hold an eligible academic or research appointment at an approved UK institution; or be hosted by a UKRI-approved organisation on a substantial research grant
• Academic appointments specifically must require a PhD or equivalent research experience, with research or innovation leadership built into the role
• Full peer review: a PhD or equivalent, active research work, and, for exceptional promise applicants, still early in career
• Full peer-review applicants need a CV and a letter from an eminent UK-based figure; exceptional talent applicants need a second letter from a senior figure at a recognised research or innovation organisation

Every field comes back to the same principle: your evidence has to map onto that field’s specific criteria, not just your career achievements in general.

You can apply for a Global Talent visa without endorsement if you have won an eligible prestigious prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes. The list contains prizes identified by the relevant Global Talent endorsing bodies as evidence of exceptional talent.

To qualify through this route, you must:

• Hold a prize named on the official eligible prestigious prize list
• Be the named winner of the prize
• Be individually named as a group member if the prize was awarded to a group
• Hold a prize that has not been withdrawn or suspended

There is no time limit on when you won the prize. However, the prize must remain valid and must not have been withdrawn or suspended when you submit your Global Talent visa application.

The Home Office may confirm your award through reliable publicly available information, such as the awarding organisation’s website. If it cannot verify the award in this way, it may ask you to provide evidence that you won the prize.

Applicants applying for a Global Talent visa from outside the UK should receive a decision within three weeks after proving their identity and providing the required documents. Applicants applying to switch to this visa from within the UK should receive a decision within eight weeks.

Processing may take longer if UK Visas and Immigration needs further information, needs to verify documents, asks the applicant to attend an interview, or has to assess personal circumstances in more detail.

The Global Talent visa application fee is £766 for the main applicant. Applicants who need endorsement pay this fee in two stages:

• £561 for the visa application after endorsement
• £766 in total

Applicants using an eligible prestigious prize do not need an endorsement or approval letter. They pay £766 when submitting their Global Talent visa application.

Each partner or child applying as a dependant must pay a separate £766 application fee.

Most adult applicants must also pay the Immigration Health Surcharge of £1035 for each year of their visa.

Children under 18 on the date of application pay a reduced rate of £776 per year. The total surcharge depends on the length of the requested permission and may be rounded up under the Home Office charging rules.

The documents required for a Global Talent visa application depend on whether you are applying with an endorsement or through an eligible prestigious prize. You may need to provide:

• A valid passport or another document that proves your identity and nationality
• Your endorsement reference or endorsement letter, if you are applying through an endorsing body
• Evidence that you have won an eligible prestigious prize, if you are applying without endorsement
• A valid tuberculosis test certificate, if UK tuberculosis testing requirements apply to you
• Written consent from the relevant government or scholarship agency, if you received an award covering both course fees and living costs within the 12 months before your application

You must also pay the visa application fee and, where required, the Immigration Health Surcharge when submitting your application. You should retain payment confirmation for your own records, but it is not a standard document that must be uploaded with the application.

Evidence Required for Global Talent Endorsement

Applicants who need endorsement must provide evidence that meets the requirements of their chosen endorsement pathway. The documents differ between academia and research, arts and culture, and digital technology.

For example, digital technology endorsement applicants must provide a CV, three letters of recommendation, and supporting evidence demonstrating they meet the exceptional talent or exceptional promise criteria.

The route allows a maximum of 10 supporting documents for the eligibility criteria, apart from the CV and recommendation letters.

Applicants should check the requirements of the relevant endorsing body before applying. A document that supports one endorsement route may not meet the criteria for another route.
