Overview of the Fiance Visa for the UK
The purpose of the UK Fiance Visa is to allow non-UK citizens, including Emiratis, to come to the UK and get married or enter into a civil partnership with their UK-based partner. The applicant’s spouse must be a UK citizen or have settled status in the UK.
Fiancé Visas are valid for six months and are issued with the understanding that you will marry your partner within that time. Once your Fiance Visa expires, you must apply for another immigration permit to stay in the UK.
It is important to know that the standard UK Visit Visa only permits persons to stay for visit purposes and does not allow for marriages within the visit period. If you enter the country under the visit visa category to arrange your wedding, you must leave and apply for the UK Fiancé Visa before marrying your partner.
